Sandcrest Skate Park
The Sandcrest Skate Park was built through the fundraising efforts of local Wautoma students, officials and generous residents. The park provides an appropriate venue for skaters of all skill levels to practice and socialize with others of like mind.
Since the skateboard's beginnings in the Mid-1900's, it has gone from a modest mode of transportation to one of the most popular activities in the world today.
Our Goal
Our goal is to create a committee to work along side the City of Wautoma and the Park Commission to raise funds and awareness for the skate park. The committee will be made up of community members, including those that use the park the most: skateboarders, inline skaters, bikers and more.
In recent years, we've needed to dismantle a few of the ramps due to wood rot, which caused these ramps to be unsafe to use. The result has lead to a dwindling park as the rest of the ramps suffer the same fate.
The committee would like to begin fund raising efforts to construct replacement ramps that will remain durable and provide excitement for years to come.
The Future
We would like our park to be a destination for skaters statewide. Wautoma is very fortunate to have a park this size and could very easily become one of the premier parks in the state.
With improvements, the Wautoma Skate Park would be able to host skate competitions, which would generate awareness and revenue for the park and the Wautoma area. We see this as a positive place for our youth and a strong attraction for the City of Wautoma.
